Organized by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration, was held at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health at Work (INSHT), on April 27 2011, a seminar with the theme Women, Working Conditions and Health . opened the seminar with a presentation by the director of INSHT , Pascual Lizana Conception of Luz Maria Rodriguez Fernandez, Secretary of State for Employment, Ministry of Labour and Immigration , who devoted a few words to reference to increased participation of women in the workplace, but stressed that much remains to be done in terms of lower quality and variety of occupations for women compared to men (horizontal segregation) and in terms of occupation lower jobs (vertical segregation). He said this is reflected in the Survey of Quality of Life at Work , showing fewer possibilities for promotion, professional development and autonomy for women, which leads to lower satisfaction. Also reflects the survey, that women suffer greater exposure than men to static postures and movements repetitive hand-arm and factors such as treatment with the public, exposure to repetitive tasks and task concurrency leads to musculoskeletal discomfort for postures and work-related efforts, which are increased if they have added factors of mental workload. Women are also more vulnerable to sleep disturbance, fatigue, headache or stress. Employment State Secretary stressed the importance of addressing this problem through the government's commitment to address employment policies and prevention of occupational hazards where the gender perspective is a strong component.

Javier Pinilla, Research Coordinator, Department of Research and Information INSHT with paper "Women in the workplace and indicators of working conditions and health" (pdf, 430 Kbytes) . With this title he discussed the indicators of gender inequality in working conditions, based on data collected in the publications of the department "Women and work: approach analysis of indicators of inequality through survey methodology "and " Approach to workplace accidents from a gender perspective ".

The third speech was by M ª Dolores Solé Gómez, head of the Technical Unit of Occupational Medicine of the National Center on Working Conditions of INSHT who commented and gave a "Report on the Guidelines for risk assessment and maternity protection at work "(pdf, 996 Kbytes) , with special reference to Article 25 of the Law on Prevention of Occupational Risks. Perdido Luis Fernando Fernandez, vice president of Budget Monitoring of the Social Security General Directorate of Social Security, Ministry of Labour and Immigration , who addressed the topic " social protection for workers. Progress and challenges in the near term, "among other texts referring to Article 26 of the Prevention of Occupational Risks, the Social Security Act and the Act on Equality between men and women.
The fifth intervention was carried out by Rosa Ramírez Fernández, deputy director general of Health Promotion and Epidemiology of the Directorate General of Public Health and Health Foreign Ministry of Health, Social Affairs and Equal , with his presentation "Inequalities gender in public health from the public health approach "(pdf, 176 Kbytes) , commenting Poll Results Health European 2009 (Spain) and Health Survey 2006 and Health Survey in Roma 2008.
