SANTO DOMINGO Hundreds of Dominican workers took advantage of the Sunday celebration International Labour Day to demand loudly: salary increase, free association, social security and food safety.
The mass march was led by the main labor unions CNTD, CNUS, CASC and popular organizations, social, liberal and leftist parties.
Pepe Rafael Abreu, president of the National Confederation of Trade Union Unity (CNUS) and one of the leading voices of the march commemorating the first of May, said the high concentration of workers are shown outraged by the denial of a fair business wage increase.

For his part, President of the Dominican Association of Teachers, Radhames Camacho, said that at the last meeting of its executive committee decided to participate strongly in the activities commemorating the first of May.
Camacho said the involvement of ADP in the struggle of will work is very special, because every time which is discussed in the National Salary Committee, the wage increase should be assuming the role of fight for improved wages, because all the different impacts sectors of national life.
